The current paper is concerned with the performance of concrete-filled double-skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns subjected to ISO-834 standard fire on all sides. The finite-element method was employed for the determination of temperature distributions in the section. A theoretical model, which was previously used to study the fire resistance of conventional concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns, was used to predict the fire performance of CFDST columns. Results from this theoretical model are presented to examine the effects of several key parameters on the fire resistance, the strength index (k_s) and the fire protection material thickness of CFDST columns. Finally, formulae required for the fire resistance and the fire protection material thickness of CFDST columns are proposed. These formulae may be suitable for incorporation into future design codes.
