Beside Scott Street, Hunter Street is a major part the new light rail, which started the testing and training phase in October 2018. Hunter Street is a main, V3 category, arterial road with a dual carriageway and rail tracks in the middle. A smart, architectural-designed, multifunctional pole was requested. To optimize spacing and achieving the required luminance, 11m poles in an opposite arrangement were chosen. Two pole configurations were used, one with an integrated CCTV camera in the middle of the pole and one without. All poles have a top 50W LED asymmetrical forward throw luminaire and an additional 80W lighting head underneath, both controlled by a TVILIGHT control system. In some locations, back shields were integrated into the top element for glare control for close residences. Spacings up to 48m were achieved. Each pole has provision for housing future needs like sensors, as well as two access doors in the base element for additional equipment, like power supplies or fibreoptic equipment. All poles have power cable connections and fibre for WiFi access points or sensor equipment.
