The first-ever clinical trial of gene therapy for Stargardt's disease, a juvenile form of macu-lar degeneration, is now underway at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland. Known as StarGen, the treatment is being developed by Oxford Biomedica, a bio-pharmaceutical company in the United Kingdom, with financial support from the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
