摘要

The characteristics of the oxide film formed on the surface of the 2017A aluminum alloy by sulfuric oxidation have been investigated using a variety of techniques. Experiments were conducted using annealing or age-hardened conditions before sulfuric anodization. The morphology and chemical composition of the film on both annealed and aged samples were investigated by Electron Probe Microanalysis using Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Spectrometry as well as Secondary Electron and Back Scattered Electron microscopy using Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy. Crystallographic details were obtained using X-Ray Diffraction. Detailed microstructural studies show that the characteristics of the passive film are influenced by the substrate microstructure, which was modified by heat treatment. Attention was given to the influence of intermetallic compounds on the nature and the properties of films of alumina developed on the aluminum-copper alloys.
