摘要

This book aims to bridge the gap between climatologists who use statistical methods in their work and statisticians who apply their methods to climate data; the author being an expert in both disciplines. The former group tend to lack the expertise to fully understand the uncertainty in their data whilst the latter miss important physical constructs which are necessary for a realistic understanding of the climate system. In targeting both, the author has to tread a fine line between keeping the statisticians sated with sufficiently complex methodology, and the climatologists content with suitable clarity in explanation and relevance to their data.:
