摘要

Fiber length distribution and fineness exert considerable influence on fiber random alignment and yarn unevenness. This study, based on early works by other researchers, presents the number of fibers in the cross-section of the yarn in terms of fiber length distribution and fiber end density. By employing the non-parametric kernel estimate of probability density function of fiber length, the computation of theoretical yarn unevenness is facilitated. Compared with the results from Martindale's and Suh's theory, the change trend of the calculated unevenness from the new expression is the same as that of the tested uneveness.
