摘要

We compare three attributes touted as fracture detection tools on a wide-azimuth multicomponent 3D seismic survey. The attributes are the difference between the principle component (S1 and S2) shear wave stacked amplitudes, the P-wave azimuthal variation of NMO velocity and the P-wave azimuthal variation of AVO response. At first glance these attributes, appear to offer different fracture interpretations. However, when combined with geologic data, it is evident that these attributes are merely sensing slightly different aspects of the subsurface. We describe how these attributes can be combined to form a consistent interpretation of the stress and fracture fields in a portion of the Weyburn field.
