MINIMAL STRETCH NMO WITH IMPLICIT NOISE FILTERING

In this paper, an algorithmic method is presented which performs NMO corrections with minimal stretch by using noninterpolated velocities to increase the parallelism of hyperbolic traveltime curves. The method can optionally suppress noises such as multiples during the NMO process. A flowchart of the algorithm is given and followed by an application to a synthetic data gather. Comparisons to traditional NMO are shown, with and without noise suppression.
