Search of Feasible Level Schemes for Atomic Parity Violation Experiments using Rare-earth Elements

Combinations of levels suited for atomic parity violation (APV) experiments have been searched using the database of rare-earth atomic energy levels. Pairs of opposite-parity fine-structure (FS) levels with the same electronic angular momenta J are searched for, and many pairs whose energy separations are smaller than a few cm~(-1) are found. Furthermore, combinations of three FS levels are searched for by considering the practical experimental conditions, that is. thermal population of levels and variable wavelength region of commercial tunable lasers. Many pairs with very small energy separations are found to be promising candidates for the practical APV measurements.
