Palil Transportation Increases Public Transport Volumes

It is generally believed that rail transportation is more attractive than other types of public transport. Working men, in particular, are thought to prefer to travel by rail rather than by bus. In the Helsinki Metropolitan Area this theory was put to the test using 'before' and 'after' surveys in connection with two rail transportation development projects. The surveys also helped to assess the degree of change and proved that the supposition was correct: more rail transportation does in fact increase public transport passenger volumes.
