The euro and public Transport passengers

Sales by our public transport companies are typified by a large number of daily transactions, each for a low average amount. For example, at the RATP, which has some 900 sales points, we effect an average of 300 transactions a day per window. Of these, 80 /100 are realized in cash for an average of less than 7.5 euros per transaction. Half of the cash transactions are for less than 4.5 euros. Moreover, sales of individual tickets on board buses, although few in number in Paris, are conducted in cash for even lower average amounts per transaction (1.2 euros per ticket).
