On January 25, 2008, the European Commission organized a workshop in Brussels to discuss and promote the launch of version 1.0 of the European Union Public License (EUPL), a new open source software license targeted at European software developers. While the English, French, and German versions of the EUPL were already approved early 2007, the translations into the other 20 official languages of the European Union were not approved until January 2008.
