The life of a substantial number of people around the world is increasingly becoming dependent on, and tied to, the Internet because of the speed, ease, and efficiency of communication that it offers. People are relying on the Internet for a range of activities from emailing to chatting, blogging, banking, studying, shopping, socializing, gambling, publishing, reading newspapers, sharing information, exchanging ideas, running political campaigns, doing business, resolving disputes, paying taxes, booking holidays, accessing pornography, and even marrying or adopting children.
