The writers thank the discussers for their interest in the paper. This opportunity is used to add aspects mentioned by the discussers that were not included in the paper but were discussed with the reviewers. The discussers correctly state that the air entrainment coefficient β is commonly used to describe the aeration capacity of aerators. However, large values of β may be misleading regarding cavitation protection provided by an aerator. The local air entrainment at the aerator as given by β is not as relevant as the resulting average C_a and bottom C_b air concentrations along the chute downstream of aerators.
