摘要

[...] may I draw readers' attention to a significant Food and Agriculture Organization/Center for Agriculture and Biosciences International (FAOCABI) book published in 2009 entided, Planted Forests - Uses, Impacts, and Sustainability. The accompanying graphics clearly shows the virtual nonmanagement of these forests nationwide and the results, as exemplified by the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, where drought and mountain pine beede combined with large acreages of unmanaged, overmature lodgepole pine have resulted in a mortality of nearly 30 times greater than the harvest.
