Differing approaches are given their due: hybridizing, backcrossing, mutation via radiation, hypovirulence, biotechnology, and genetic engineering - refreshingly simplified by Freinkel as "fixing the tree so it can withstand the fungus or fixing the fungus so it can't hurt the tree."
