摘要

"Agile librarians are professionals who love their work and are appreciated for it" (p. xiii). In contrast to Rigid Librarians, who fear change and are satisfied with the status quo, Agile librarians are thoroughly knowledgeable about, and involved in, the current mission of their institutions. They take pride in continuously enhancing the services they offer to their "delighted clients." A consistent theme throughout The Agile Librarian's Guide is the need to "know, show, and tell," with McKnight providing many examples that illustrate how all three activities are critical to demonstrating the value of the library. Starting with a full appreciation of what your clientele does and what is most important to them (know) allows you to provide them with timely, value-added information (show), creating delighted clients while you graciously and succinctly spread the word about the value of your services (tell).
