Violent Women in Print: Representations in the West German Print Media of the 1960s and 1970s

William Faulkner's adage that the past is neither dead nor past applies particularly to Germany. It is not just the Nazi era and the decades of division which stir controversy, but also the terrorism of the 1960s and 1970s, for example when in 2001 the daughter of the terrorist Ulrike Meinhof published photographs showing that the then foreign minister Joschka Fischer had been involved in violent demonstrations during his youth.
