The book presents an in-depth analysis of the 'emergent' European energy policy. The emphasis is on the environmental dimensions of the policy, and this feature places it into a distinguished position in both the European studies and energy studies. With the fact that the European Union (EU) is an energy importer and heavily dependent upon certain suppliers, the book makes a distinction between internal and external dimensions of the Union's energy relations. Thus, it is welcome to see that the topic is examined under separate sections from 'external' and 'internal' perspectives.
