This is a book about the crisis in Greece, written in the midst of the crisis by two persons who are not only living through it, but also taking a clear political and ideological stand. In particular, Laskos is a member of the Central Political Committee of SYRIZA, while Tsakalotos is a SYRIZA MP. The very title of the book-Crucible of Resistance-prepares the reader for an account that is given not from some ivory tower, but from active participation in a major historical moment. Furthermore, the subheading-Greece, the Eurozone and the World Economic Crisis-directly places the crisis in Greece in a broad European and global context.
