"The Royal Aeronautical Society is as relevant today as it was in 1866, when it was founded by those who saw the need to work together to advance the art and science of aerospace. Today, the international, national, and local challenges may well be different wherever we are in aerospace but the opportunities which come from working together to make a difference, by discussing issues of concern, and by sharing and disseminating 'best practice,' are what the Society is all about. The Society includes a wide spectrum of the global aerospace community in terms of sectors and demography: academics and industrialists; commercial and defence operators; regulators and those with a political interest in aerospace are all represented.
