The United States has confirmed it will keep a force equipped with Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) inside Syria to help the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) hold oil fields, thereby denying the Islamic State a source of revenue. "The United States will retain control of oil fields in northeast Syria," US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said in a 28 October press conference.
