Russia's VDV to get three BMD-4M battalion sets

The Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) will receive three battalion sets of air-droppable BMD-4M infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and over 60 BTR-MDM armoured personnel carriers (APCs) in 2017, the deputy commander of the service for logistic support, Major General Nariman Timergazin, told journalists on 14 March. "The VDV units have been receiving modern BMD-4M IFVs and multipurpose BTR-MDMs in sequence since 2014. At present the service operates two battalion sets of BMD-4Ms and about 40 BTR-MDMs. In 2017 our units will get three BMD-4M battalion sets and over 60 BTR-MDMs," said Maj Gen Timergazin.
