Chile receives last of its P68 fleet

The Chilean Naval Aviation has received its full fleet of seven Vulca-nair P68 Observer 2 aircraft to replace legacy Cessna O-2 Skymaster aircraft for search-and-rescue, surveillance, maritime policing, liaison, and transport duties, according to a Chilean Navy statement. The fleet was assembled by Chilean Navy technicians under Project 'Piquero' (a local idiom for a descent into a dive) and will be distributed across the country. The first aircraft was officially received on 1 July 2016 and deliveries were completed in March 2017.
