Thailand to boost naval shipbuilding capability

The Thai government has outlined a commitment to develop national naval shipbuilding capabilities to support the modernisation of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), including its plan to procure submarines from China. The intention was announced on 7 March following Thai defence minister General Prawit Wongsuwan's visit to the navy's Mahidol Adulyadej Naval Dockyard in Sattahip, Chonburi: a facility that is managed by state-owned company Bangkok Dock.
