COTECMAR starts work on Honduran support vessel

Colombia's state-run COTECMAR shipyard commenced building work on a multipurpose naval platform for Honduras on 27 February. A ceremony was held at the industrial complex in Cartagena where the vessel's first block will be assembled. The platform should be completed in 11 months, according to COTECMAR. The Honduran government has ordered a Short Range Logistic Support Ship (Buque de Apoyo Logi'stico y Cabotaje: BAL-C), with a length of 49 m, speed of at least 8.5 kt, and capacity to transport up to 120 tonnes of cargo. The Colombian Navy operates four of these platforms.
