E. Akita, K. Kondou, Y. Kanezawa, T. Matsumoto of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries look at the upgrading of 701F gas turbines at an Italian CCGT plant using the latest F-Class technology. Italian utility Enel's La Spezia combined-cycle power plant in Italy has two FiatAvio 701F gas turbines that were installed in 1999 and 2000. Several issues remaining after the first modification still prevented the units from operating at the design temperature of 1,367℃. Specifically, high combustion dynamics and flash back imposed a reduction of approximately 27℃ in the gas turbine inlet temperature (TIT) (1,340℃ instead of 1,367℃).
