Modern plant for a modernising country

Algeria is modernising and opening its economy to trade globalisation, and the country is strengthening its position as an 'energy bridge' between Africa and Europe. Algeria is also planning to increase its trade with the USA, and expects trade volume to increase following the decision by the US Export-Import Bank (Exim) to suppress its credit ceiling limits. Exim has granted a $300 million credit line, and the Overseas Private Investments Corporation (OPIC) has stated that it is ready to guarantee up to $1 billion of US investments in Algeria. American investment in Algeria already totals $4bn. Skikda is a port on the Gulf of Stora on the Mediterranean coast of Algeria. The port mainly transports agricultural and mineral products, and is the port for Constantine. There are natural gas, oil refining and petrochemical industries producing aromatics and olefins and associated pipelines based near the port.
