Refurbishing major plant assets can improve output, relaibility and efficiency. IPG looks at the projects and technologies of Siemens PG. Steam turbine power plant account for a large portion of the world's generation capacity. Due to the age of the global steam fleet this represents a large potential for refurbishment in terms of output, reliability, and environmental protection. Modernisation of plant components, especially steam turbines, is cost-effective even before the end of the theoretical service life has been reached. Replacement of aging key components by state-of-the-art design improvements is one possibility for optimising the service life, performance and availability of power plant. Economic advantages are gained through fuel savings due to the higher efficiency, a higher output, shorter start-up and shutdown times and shortened standstill phases.
