Tiszaviz Vizeroemue KFT, owner of Kiskoere, the biggest hydraulic power station in Hungary, located on the river Tisza, decided to carry out a complete modernisation and upgrading of the power station after 28 years of operation. The contract for the general rehabilitation and modernisation was awarded to a consortium of Siemens RT and Voith Siemens Hydro. It will be finished in 2006. The scope of the work is an improvement of the turbine hydraulics by modification of runner blades and wicket gates; a general overhaul of all mechanical components with implementation of maintenance- free distributor bearing systems; a general overhaul of bearing oil lubrication, and cooling systems, as well as the hydraulic part of the turbine governing systems; and a generator rewind. In addition, is the new installation of excitation systems, the implementation of 4 units digital turbine governors, each with unit start-up/stop control system, a joint control-and visualisation system.
