EC emissions legislation has meant significant adjustments for large combustion plant in Europe. But careful planning and the right kind of investment can prove successful. There is no let up now for owners/operators of large power plant in Europe. In less than eighteen months time, the deadline for full implementation of the Large Combustion Plant Directive will pass. A few months earlier, activities under another Directive, Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control, should be put into practice. By 2010, the National Emission Ceilings Directive comes into effect, setting national limits on SO_2, NOx, VOCs and ammonia.
