Drilling for coalbed gas

Coalbed methane has the potential to provide another valuable fuel source for UK power generators. Extracting the gas from seams deep underground requires project specific on-site power resources. In an area of Scotland, stretching from the Ochill Hills right across to Stirling in the west, contained within the coal seams is a potentially large supply of untapped natural gas (coalbed methane). There is a possibility that these seams may provide another source of domestic natural gas for the UK.
