UK-based Sonardyne International hasrnannounced two performance upgrades to its equipment.rnThe company said the depth rating of its Type 8070 Wideband Sub-Mini (WSM) transponder/responders has been increased from 3000 metres to 4000 metres. "This follows an engineering design review prompted by customers' desire to operate the units at greater depths," explained the Hampshire-headquartered company.rnThe change not only applies to newly manufactured WSMs but all Type 8070 units currently in the field. No mechanical modifications or new parts are required to benefit from the extended depth capability, according to Sonardyne.
