AUV customers offered new pipeline inspection capability

I Iceland-based Hafmynd, the maker of the Gavia AUV has announced that AutoTracker active pipeline tracking capability from SeeByte, UK, is now available to its customers. The announcement follows integration trials carried out by Hafmynd and SeeByte in Iceland when 36 kilometres of pipe were successfully tracked during operationsrn"AutoTracker is developed by SeeByte as a part of its SeeTrack Offshore family which can be integrated into a Gavia payload allowing the AUV to autonomously track pipelines using the input of the onboard sidescan sonar to maintain a constant offset from the pipe," explained Hafmynd. "Whilernactively tracking the pipe the Gavia AUV is capable of using a number of sensors to conduct an inspection of the pipe including sidescan and bathymetry and the possibility of other specialised payloads."
