BAE Systems display the Advanced Hawk

An aircraft being displayed for the very first time by BAE Systems at Aero India is the Advanced Hawk. BAE has established a partnership with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL). HAL modified the Hawk's original wing by fitting it with combat flaps and active leading edge slats, BAE's Air Cdre Ashit Mehta informed Show Daily that the active slat wing considerably improves the aircraft's performance during landings and take-offs, as well as during sustained and instantaneous turn rates compared to the Hawk Mk 132. It improves take-off performance with a 17 per cent higher rate of climb. Also, it reduces turn radius by 25 percent, Air Cdre Mehta explained.
