Services were held here December 13 for Alvin L. Levine who died Dec.9.rnLevine, 92, was a legendary member of the home textiles industry, a long-time executive in the basic bedding segment at Perfect Fit Inds., and after retirement an acerbic observer of the industry as a whole.rnHis letters to the editor appearing in HTT over the years were filled with suggestions for retailers and suppliers. A sample from 2001: "Manufacturers make items that appeal to tens of millions of customers, but they keep it a secret. Ads should be run for the benefit of the dumbest person reading the ad, and that goes for packaging as well. People do not read the small print on packages."
