The surface waters in Kosovo are permanently polluted, and it is a matter of fact that the cities in Kosovo are yet without any treating equipment program of urban and industrial waste waters. The main goal of this research was to analyze some environmental toxic elements downstream the river where they end up as natural recipients. The concentration of major and minor elements was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectros-copy (ICP-MS), and the amounts of Hg by cold vapor in combination with adsorption atomic spectroscopy (CV-AAS). Two locations in Sitnica River at Fushe Kosova and Mitrovica, are significantly polluted with Zn, Ni, Cd, Hg and Pb, as a result of flotation process in Kishnica, pollution from the mine in Gllogovc, and processing of Zn electrolyses in Mitrovica. Concentrations of toxic elements from surface waters are compared with the results for the source where anthropogenic effects are not present (part of river in the source). Statistical methods are applied to find locations where integrated water resources management can be suggested. Results obtained by the box plot method showed the regions with determined anomalous element concentration values in water of Sitnica River.
