PIPER INTRODUCES DIESEL ARCHER

Continuing a trend favoring diesel power in a growing number of light singles, Piper Aircraft launched a version of its Archer fitted with a Continental/Centurion 2.0S jet-A compression-ignition engine. Piper and Continental completed flight testing of the prototype in Germany this spring, leading to an EASA STC in Europe and clearing the way for deliveries of the new model, dubbed the Archer DX, to start early next year.
