The pilots take up their seats in the cockpit, four large screens close together are powered up. There is a throttle lever in the centre between them, with sidesticks for issuing control inputs on the left and right. On the other hand you will look around in vain for switches, knobs or the usual ceiling mounted control panel. All inputs are made directly on the monitors. A small display directly in front of the pilots' right eye hangs down from the headset headband. Images from a thermal imagery camera are fed into this and merged with computer animated terrain images. This combined vision system provides a full view in every direction even at night or in poor weather.
