How timely can you be? The issue containing the short article on the Caudron 460 arrived the same day I had seen that replica at the Flabob fly-in. Both events had extra meaning to me. My father and I saw the original C.460 race, not in Cleveland, but in Los Angeles in 1936. Cleveland was doing some rebuilding that year. I won't challenge Budd Davisson for I was only 10 years old at the time, but different sources indicate that Michael Detroyat flew the 460 in both the Greve and the Thompson Trophy races. Either way, it was thrilling for an airplane-crazy kid who many years later did some flying for the U.S. Navy.
