High-amperage electrical systems, LED lighting, and AGM batteries have introduced some new concerns. First, wernstill need to be concerned with capacity because even though more electric power is available, it does not mean we have ample excess. In most cases the "excess" already has been claimed by various electrical devices. Second, the high power is NOT available at engine idle because the alternator rating is based on high-speed operation and much less power is produced by the alternator at low engine speed. Third, conductor voltage drop at high current becomes a much more significant issue because it inhibits proper battery charging.
