Dual role for heavy-lifters

The growing need to remove redundant offshore oil platforms has prompted the development of a new kind of heavy-lift vessel. SeaMetric International's Twin Marine Lifter (TML) is a unique semi-submersible heavy-lift vessel designed to work in tandem with an identical vessel, both of which will be fitted with a patented heavy-lift system to install and remove offshore oil installations. Designed by Multi Maritime in Norway, it is primarily intended to carry out lifting operations offshore, removing offshore structures - particularly the sections known as jackets and topsides - and lifting them on to barges for transportation ashore.
