Designers' long wait set to end

Projemar is an up-and-coming ship design consultancy that rose out of the ashes of the declining Brazilian shipbuilding industry back in the 1990s. The Rio de Janeiro-based company has been contracted to design four 47,000dwt vessels for PDV Marina - the shipping arm of Venezuelan state-owned oil company PDVSA - at the Astilleros Rio Santiago shipyard, in Argentina. The Panamax vessels, 174m in length and 32.2 beam, are for the transportation of gasoline and various petroleum products.
