The delivery date for the first ship in the US Shipping (USS) series remains 2Q09, with additional deliveries every six to eight months through to 2014, "but we are trying to better that schedule", said Tim McCue, director of business development and strategic planning for the San Diego yard. "We are pleased with the rate of progress towards construction," he said, reporting that "the pilot block - an engine section - will be in the yard in May, with keel con- struction starting in November or December this year."
