Against the backcloth of the tightening of emission controls, MTU has brought forward a new generation of Series 4000 marine diesels, both cleaner and much more powerful than their predecessors. The project has been technically founded on 10 years' successful market penetration by the 4000 high-speed class, widely used in the inland shipping, tug and support vessel sectors and other fields.
