The latest MARPOL regulations covering disposal of bilge water at sea has shown up the inefficiencies of some older separator systems. The need to retrofit older ships and the newbuilding boom has opened up opportunities for increased sales and even though most long standing makers of such equipment have improved their devices, there has still been room for newcomers to enter the arena.
