As the French courts try to pin the blame for the Erika incident on someone, Solutions reflects on how official actions have robbed the shipping sector of vital evidence that could prevent future losses. As this issue of Solutions goes to press, the Erika trial is entering its second week. With the whole process expected to last for at least three months it is quite obviously too early at the moment to speculate as to what the outcome might be and which if any of the 15 defendants will be found culpable or what their punishment might be.
