New yards, new visions

Although Turkish shipbuilding has only recently established itself in the international arena, the country's builders are looking to increase and improve the range they offer. Besides the already busy Tuzla region, where most of the shipyards are located, new focal areas are under development. Eregli, on the Black Sea coast, hosts six shipyards. Six more yards are operating in the free trade zone of Izmit. South of Tuzla, Yalova also plans to build facilities for constructing larger vessels.
