摘要

Stena Bulk's B-Max design was aimed at revolutionising oil transport from Russia's Baltic and Black Sea oil terminals. The broad beam that has been typical of recent Stena tanker designs would have enabled the ice-class ships to carry around 200,000 tonnes of cargo - twice as much as a conventional vessel of similar length - and yet the length would enable the ship to enter most Suezmax-size ports. Stena still expects that the design will one day materialise, but considers that conditions are not right for the time being. Demand for oil is unpredictable and yard space has until now been at a premium.
