Waste is an expense, and thus costs money. Traditional problem-solving approaches often miss process improvement opportunities, resulting in unnecessary wastes. This lead to less profitable busineses. DuPont has developed a methodol- ogy that identifies the technologies and practices that reduce waste generation. The methodology examines the process starting with the waste streams, and works back to the source of these wastes, asking questions about how it can be elimi- nated or minimized.
